How we work
Six steps — from idea to the finished book.
Stage 1
Idea–theme
A conversation to define the recipient, the occasion, and the date. From this, the theme emerges — a concise guiding point that leads the entire project. Alongside it, we craft a single manifesto phrase and the mood of the palette. Every next step is aligned with this axis to keep the meaning focused and consistent.
Stage 2
Draft
The first spread sets the reading rhythm: where the text speaks and where silence works. We build the grid and typography, outline the character of the illustrations, and test 2–3 palette and embossing directions for the cover. At this step, you can see how the book “breathes” — choosing the direction defines the style of the entire edition.
Stage 3
Text
Meaning gains a voice: prose or poetry is written from scratch for the recipient and the theme. We gather the texture of facts and nuances, set the pace of the phrases, and avoid clichés. The architecture of the text — introduction, development line, climax, gentle afterword — creates a lasting aftertaste. Light edits refine the tone.
Stage 4
Layout and image
Text becomes composition: grid, margins, leading, size. Illustrations (or graphic accents) are integrated delicately — they support the voice, not compete with it. The layout of key spreads sets the rhythm of the entire book; microtypography fine-tunes the precision. The result is a coherent body of the edition, where every pause is meaningful.
Stage 5
Materials and details
Now comes tactility. We select the texture of the cover, the shade and density of the paper. We approve the details: embossing, edges, ribbon, box, and a card for warm words. Visual tests show how everything works together in the hands and in real light — not only on a screen.
Stage 6
Printing and binding
The final stage is precision in the details: color accuracy, fill density, even edges, the fit of the block and spine. The copy is assembled calmly, without haste; the embossing lands cleanly, the box lid closes softly. The finished book looks and feels whole — as an object meant to last for years.
Rhythm and communication
A single project lead oversees the process. We respond quickly and to the point. Key milestones are approved at two stages — after the draft and before printing. Previews are shared via private links/files. We work discreetly and do not publish any materials without your consent. An NDA can be arranged upon request. We respect important dates: tell us at the start and we will align the schedule with your event.
